Charming!

IMG_8338wm
Have you ever been at a social gathering and lost your glass of wine or cup of coffee? Or more precisely, you can’t tell which one is yours? Well, by attaching one of these charms, you can lay claim to your stemware or mug.

I’ve used Stampin’ Up!’s Have a Cuppa Embellishments and Botanical Garden Jewels. The moment I saw them in the Occasions Catalog, I knew I wanted them to make these wine and mug charms!

IMG_8356wmThese are wire hoops from  Hobby Lobby. They have a loop on one end and are flat on the other. After attaching the seed beads and Stampin’ Up! charms, I bent the tip of the flat end up to create a hook for the hoop.

These wine and mug charms are SUPER EASY and fast to make as you will see in the following tutorial.

Use my Shop Now button in the top right hand corner to order these Stampin’ Up! embellishments and jewels. And don’t forget to select your FREE Sale-A-Bration item for every $50 of product that you purchase.

Video – Surprise Can with Easter Lamb

IMG_8299wmWho doesn’t love a surprise? Especially from a can that holds the mystery of how it was filled. Very ship-in-the-bottle-esque.

As the video shows below, you will need these three items to make these treasures:

can openerwmSafe Cut Can Opener
Walmart has them so I assume other big box stores do too.

Pull top cans with a bottom lid
Look for cans with a pull top as well as a bottom lid like the one pictured  below. I have the best luck finding them in the canned fruit aisle of my grocery store.  IMG_8261wm

Stampin’ Up!’s Crystal Effects are a must-have too. See my video below to see why.

The ADORABLE stamp set used here is Easter Lamb. It’s a sweet stamp from our Occasions Catalog. For only $10, it’s a steal!

If you need the Stampin’ Up! supplies to make your own Surprise Cans, use my Shop Now button in the top right hand corner. Don’t forget to select your FREE Sale-A-Bration item for every $50 of product that you purchase.

I would love for you to share your own Surprise Can creations on my Amy’s Inklings Facebook page!

Reverse Masking with Flowering Fields

IMG_8242aWow. I’ve sat here for a LONG time trying to come up with the words to describe masking and reverse masking for a novice stamper. It’s tough!

A mask covers a stamped image and protects it from getting marred by ink. A reverse mask covers the background leaving only the image exposed. Make sense? Likely not. See the video to follow. 🙂

Helpful Hint: When making a mask, use text weight paper, like copy paper, not cardstock.  Thinner paper allows the ink to come right up to the mask’s edge.

Isn’t it magic? It’s a thrill for me every time I remove the mask.

I would love to see what YOU can come up with. Try reverse masking and share a picture of it on my Facebook page here. And don’t forget to like my page.

White Craft Pad vs. Staz On Opaque Pad

IMG_8031I know I’ve said this before, but I absolutely adore our Bakers Box Thinlit. The box is the perfect size for sweet treats. An added benefit is the little window die that allows a peak inside the box to see what is enclosed.

For video tutorials on how to construct the Bakers Box, go here  or here . Today’s Video tutorial below focuses on the difference between the two white pads I used – the White Craft Stampin’ Pad and the Staz On Opaque Pad.

IMG_8162Craft  Craft Stampin’ Pad

  • Pigment based ink
  • Slow to dry which makes it great for heat embossing
  • Cleans easily with a baby wipe or wet paper towel
  • Stamps on cardstock and some fabrics
  • Acid free
  • Non toxic

IMG_8161White StazOn Opaque Pad

  • Solvent ink
  • Stamps on plastic and other non porous surfaces
  • Requires Staz On CLeaner
  • Comes with a reinker

Nested Valentine Egg

box01I found these adorable Lindt Lindor Chocolate Valentine Eggs while grocery shopping at Kroger. Of course I wondered how I could parlay them into a stamped project. Instantly my favorite Scallop Tag Topper Punch came to mind.

This particular package has a raised platform that “nests” the egg securely. The video tutorial to follow will show you how to make these adorable Valentine treats.

I’m Lost Without You

IMG_8057Ba ha ha ha!!! The joke’s on me with this card. Can you tell why? If not keep reading.

IMG_8064This is a card we made at my last Mother Daughter Stamp Club. One of the club members had been asking about Heat & Stick Powder so I incorporated Heat & Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamond Glitter. Come back tomorrow for a video tutorial on the wonders of Heat & Stick and how to use it.

IMG_8087For this card I also wanted to use some of our new items from the Occasions Catalog – our World Traveler Textured Embossing Folder and Going Global Stamp Set.

I thought I was so smart
I wanted to be able to stamp the greeting on top of the embossed image. My “a-ha” brilliant idea was to use the underside of the impression so that the surface would be flat for stamping. I thought I was so smart until one of the girls at club remarked, “Yeah, but … when you use that side doesn’t it make the globe wrong?” … crickets

That’s when one of the moms said, “Well, it just shows I really am lost without you.” Good save.

Hello Birthday Girl

IMG_7976For a quick, simple card, Stampin’ Up!’s new stamp set “Hello” (one of the FREE items from our Sale-A-Bration catalog) is just the ticket! This card came together in no time flat. And here’s how …

IMG_8006Note Cards & Envelopes:
On page 149 of our current Annual Catalog, we feature our Note Cards & Envelopes in either Crumb Cake or Whisper White. It doesn’t get any faster or easier than to simply reach for one of these precut and prescored note cards.  Each of these packs has 20 sets of cards and envelopes for only $6.00 so they’re both quick and easy to use as well as economical!
Note: For a little added pizzazz, I covered the flap of the envelope with Birthday Bouquet DSP.

Memento Pad in Tuxedo Black:
I stamped both “hello” and “Birthday Girl” with Memento Ink. Boom. Done!

Stampin’ Write Markers:
Grab an assortment of our Stampin’ Write Markers and with the paint brush tip color each stripe of the hat with a different color. Huff on the stamp to remoisten the ink before stamping  your card.

Sooooooooo quick and easy! And adorable too!

IMG_8008Quick Tip:
The Hello Stamp Set comes in either wood block or clear. If you want exact precision in lining up the second stamp under “hello”, use our Stamp-a-ma-jig. For a video tutorial on how to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig, see this post. This is a tutorial from last year. You can find the Stamp-a-ma-jig on page 176 of this year’s Annual Catalog.

Happy Birthday with Balloon Celebration

IMG_7966What says Happy Birthday better than balloons? Perhaps the Balloon Celebration Stamp Set and coordinating Balloon Bouquet Punch!

IMG_7972The Sky
I love this sweet card. The “sky” came together with a piece of Pool Party cardstock that’s covered with a piece of vellum from the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Stack. This stack is one of the Sale-A-Bration items that can be yours for FREE with a qualifying order. 🙂
The balloons are stamped with Pool Party onto the vellum. The subtle images have the effect of balloons in the distance being obscured by clouds.

Creating Dimension:
IMG_7999Punch art and Stampin’ Dimensionals work great together to create the illusion of depth among your images.
For instance, the balloon on the far right is punched out of our new Birthday Bouquet DSP and adhered to the vellum overlay.
The two middle balloons are punched with Watermelon Wonder and Pear Pizzazz cardstock and are both elevated with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The balloon on the far left, however, is punched out of the Pool Party/vellum base and then the entire panel is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals with a small piece of matching DSP underneath.

Bundle for a Great Deal!
The Balloon Celebration Stamp Set and coordinating Balloon Bouquet Punch can be purchased as a Bundle which means a 15% savings for you! If you prefer, however, they can be purchased separately.
