Who doesn’t love a surprise? Especially from a can that holds the mystery of how it was filled. Very ship-in-the-bottle-esque.
As the video shows below, you will need these three items to make these treasures:
Safe Cut Can Opener
Walmart has them so I assume other big box stores do too.
Pull top cans with a bottom lid
Look for cans with a pull top as well as a bottom lid like the one pictured below. I have the best luck finding them in the canned fruit aisle of my grocery store.
Stampin’ Up!’s Crystal Effects are a must-have too. See my video below to see why.
The ADORABLE stamp set used here is Easter Lamb. It’s a sweet stamp from our Occasions Catalog. For only $10, it’s a steal!
If you need the Stampin’ Up! supplies to make your own Surprise Cans, use my Shop Now button in the top right hand corner. Don’t forget to select your FREE Sale-A-Bration item for every $50 of product that you purchase.

# 103954 $17.00
These refillable, water-filled “brushes” are great for watercoloring images and for creating beautiful background color washes. They come two to a pack and are a great bargain!
Simply press the closed lid of your Stampin’ Up!Classic Ink Pads to create a pool of ink on the inside of the lid. Use the Aqua Painters to pick up ink and “paint.” Simply wipe the brush clean with a rag or paper towel before proceeding to the next color.

This week’s Can You Case It (CYCI) Challenge is “Designers Choice.” I chose to feature a tiled card that has been watercolored with Stampin’ Up! Classic ink pads and Aqua Painters. I also wanted to use our new Fine-Tip Glue Pen which I am PSYCHED about! So before going into the details of the card, I want to share this video that Stampin’ Up! produced on how to use this incredible new adhesive.
Creating Tiled Panels:
On my card, the main image has been cut into tiled panels. Creating tiles out of one image simply adds more allure to your focal point. These tiles work aesthetically when the “grout” (for lack of a better description) eliminates part of the image.
After stamping and painting the flower, I determined where I wanted to make my cuts. After marking the cut lines on the artwork, I cut on both sides of my pencil marks eliminating roughly 3/16″ of the image creating a “grout” area. I then adhered them to the card base leaving the 3/16″ space between each piece.
Watercoloring with Aqua Painters:
There are few things more fun in the stamping world than painting with our Aqua Painters. It’s like magic the way our ink pads convert immediately into paint palettes. Stampin’ Up!’s Aqua Painters make the BEST paint brushes, too, because they contain their own water and will never dry out because you simply refill them with water. For a video on how to watercolor, go here.
A new glue is in town … it’s Stampin’ Up!’s Fine Tip Glue Pen. This is the PERFECT adhesive when you’re working with small objects like sequins. It’s also GREAT when you need to adhere whisper thin pieces of cardstock such as those that some of our thinlits create.
Thanks for stopping by Amy’s Inklings. Be sure to also stop by the Can You Case It website to see what other stampers are submitting. I encourage you to submit your project online too! And when you do, be sure to check back here and leave a message for me. I’d love to see what you create!
