Video – Toadally Awesome Curvy Keepsake Box

IMG_6858 with markYou’re Sublime is an excellent stamp set when you’re in the mood for a little whimsy. The images, especially this little toad with its big eyes and goofy grin, make me smile.¬† ūüôā

The Decorative Dots Embossing Folder adds to the whimsy of this box by creating a bumpy, toad-like surface. There is a trick, however, to making the texture work. See the video to follow:

Loads of Thanks for CYCI#92

IMG_616811063958_10206967019589375_7827150498806493275_nThe sketch this week for Can You Case It is a very clean and simple one; a square focal point with a greeting underneath. Gotta love it! My interpretation is a little different in that I used a circle focal point instead of a square. The overall effect remains the same, though. Simple and clean.

There’s an added surprise when the card is opened.

IMG_6851 with markWhen the top flap of the card is lifted, the main focal point remains. Here’s another view of the inside of the card.

IMG_6852 with markTips and Tricks:

  • Punch the circle out of the top of the card to create your “window.” Once you’ve stamped and punched the image that will go in its place, close the card and adhere the image through the window. This will ensure that it pops through perfectly when the card is opened and closed.
  • Outline your stamped image with Soft Sky ink. The added hue anchors the image and gives it a wee bit more pop!
  • Once the image is punched out, smoosh the whole thing, face down, in a Versamark pad. Heat emboss the entire surface with Clear Embossing Powder. The outcome is a gorgeous, glassy sheen!

Good Things for CYCI# 91

Good Things with mark11960192_10206967016669302_1389074176069604885_n

Can you Case It is challenging you this week to create a project with browns, greens and neutrals. I chose to focus on the brown palette using Stampin’ Up!’s Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso.

I wanted a clean, simple layout. That’s easily accomplished with a monochromatic card like this one. But clean, simple and monochromatic needn’t be flat and boring. There are subtle ways to add a bit of pop and panache. In this card:

  • IMG_6651 with markThe main image is offset,
  • The tree and ground are “sparkled” with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to simulate snow and ice (as shown better in the photo on the right), and
  • Sequins were added for balance and the unexpected bling.

A Little Something Bakers Box for CYCI #90

trick or treat box with mark11933472_10206967014269242_5372582990894626687_nCan You Case It is having a Halloween Edition challenge this week. With candy corn, spider rings, Tangelo Twist cardstock and the Baker’s Box Thinlit on hand, I knew immediately what I would submit for the challenge.

The stamp set featured in this project is A Little Something. I stamped the greeting onto a window sheet to create the window of the box. And the cardstock was stamped with these ADORABLE spiders before it was scored and constructed into the box.

Video – Lighthearted Leaves Coloring Card Kit

coloring kit 1 with markastampin-up-lighthearted-leaves-500x500Coloring books for adults are the new latest craze in the craft industry. Parade magazine recently featured a front page article on them. Barnes & Noble had a HUGE collection in their front foyer today. Those coloring pages came to mind when I first laid eyes on Stampin’ Up!’s new Lighthearted Leaves stamp set.

My project and video today is a Coloring Card Kit made with Lighthearted Leaves that I presented at the World Card Making Day event this past weekend.

Wouldn’t these make a GREAT gift?

Please note the following:

  • While I used a plastic crayon box with the final card size being 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″, another option for the box is Stampin’ Up!s Half Wide Stamp Case #127552. The final card size for that box would be 3″ x 4-1/2″.
  • The Real Red 3/8″ Satin Woven Ribbon #135840 is on the Clearance Rack for only $2.79! Just $2.79!!!
  • Photopolymer stamps like this one come sandwiched between two plastic sheets. The unprinted plastic sheet can be used as the window sheet.

A video tutorial for how to use the Envelope Punch Board can be found here. The instructions for the envelope board begin at 6:00 of the video.

I would love to help you order the supplies to make these adorable kits. Simply use the Shop Now button on the far right at the top. For assistance or to learn more about this project or my Stampin’ Up! business, I can be reached at amysinklings@gmail.com.

Christmas Wishes for CYCI #89

IMG_6568with markDid you know that today is World Card Making Day?

12141775_10206860718509564_6935593042060311984_nBrian King and Pam Morris held there third annual WCMD event in the Atlanta area yesterday. Stampin Up! Demonstrators flew in from all over the U.S. The event was a fun-filled, full of laughter kind of day that included demonstrations, a card swap, door prizes, games, a yummy lunch, and of course plenty of stamping! The day was a hoot! I’m already looking forward to next year.

11141358_10206769490891281_1170645319222913445_nMy card today is for the Can You Case It #89 Challenge. The sketch was a great way to showcase our Merry Moments DSP Stack along with strips of cardstock in coordinating colors.

Merry Moments has bold polka dots so I embossed the strips of cardstock with our Decorative Dots Embossing Folder to make the overall design cohesive.
