Garden in Bloom and Scallop Stripe Thinlit for Freshly Made Sketches #194

friendsFMS194Hello Stampers! Today’s card was designed for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #194 . I was able to incorporate two of my current, favorite obsessions – the Striped Scallop Thinlit and the Garden in Bloom stamp set.

Striped Scallop Thinlit
This thinlit is STUNNING!!! I particularly like the way it looks white-on-white. The intricut cut is easier to pull free from the thinlit if you place a piece of wax paper between the cardstock and thinlit before sending it through the Big Shot.

I wanted to isolate just the word “Friends” from the rest of the stamp. I simply covered what I didn’t want stamped with a sticky note, inked what was exposed, removed the sticky note, and then stamped as usual.
Note: Coloring the word with our Stampin’ Write markers wasn’t an option. For some reason, ink from the markers doesn’t stick well to the photopolymer stamps.

With the white-on-white scallop thinlit at the bottom and the overall white-on-white construction of the card, I felt that the top layer of cardstock needed to be sponged to help the various elements stand out.  I sponged the edges first with Pear Pizazz and thought, “Meh.” So I went back and sponged again with Pacific Point.

  1. As the King would say, I will tell you the three things I love about this card. 1) the flowers especially with the gold accenting 2) the ribbon with the single knot (FAB) 3) the scallop stripe white on white. Stunning card!
