Brayer, Ink Pads and Clear Block = “Cool” Background

xmas02

At a recent card swap I received a beautiful card with an interesting, mottled background. When I asked about it she said she had inked her clear block and used it as a stamp. So as I was trying to figure out how to elaborate on the wintry scene, I gave it a whirl and the result was cool!!! Pun intended! 🙂

Here’s a video on the background technique.

As my video indicated, I chose to cut out the image and mount it on Night of Navy.  However, if you want to try this technique on a white card base, simply use a mask before stamping the trees so the trees don’t overlap the background you created.

  1. Love your tutorial! I really like the one you demonstrated, it looked like snow on the trees where the ink didn’t hit the paper.
